When Jesus is calling you into His arms…. And learning to trust in uncertainty

When the Call Is Gentle but Persistent

Lately, I’ve felt Jesus tugging at my heart in ways I can’t ignore anymore.

Not loudly.

Not dramatically.

Not with lightning or certainty or a perfectly mapped-out plan.

Just… gently. Persistently. Quietly—but unmistakably.

For a long time, I think I expected God’s direction to arrive with clarity so sharp it left no room for doubt. I imagined that when He spoke, I would know—that fear would vanish, confusion would dissolve, and obedience would feel brave and easy.

But that hasn’t been my experience.

Instead, His voice has felt more like a steady pull than a sudden push. Like the way the sun draws a seed upward through the soil long before anything breaks the surface. Like a whisper that returns again and again, asking for my attention—not my perfection.

The Tender In-Between

Right now, I’m standing in what I can only describe as a tender in-between.

I don’t know exactly where He’s leading.

I don’t have the full picture.

I don’t feel especially bold or prepared.

And yet, something in me knows I’m being asked to lift my eyes.

To stop staring so intently at the ground beneath my feet—at my fear, my doubts, my need for control—and instead look up. To trust that even if the path ahead isn’t fully visible, it is still held.

This space is uncomfortable. It’s vulnerable. It asks for surrender without offering many guarantees.

But I’m learning that faith often grows best here.

Quiet Courage Counts Too

There’s a kind of courage that doesn’t look impressive from the outside.

It doesn’t announce itself.

It doesn’t rush ahead.

It doesn’t post a victory before the battle is over.

Quiet courage looks like choosing trust when certainty is absent.

It looks like saying “yes” with a trembling voice.

It looks like continuing to walk—even slowly—when stopping would feel safer.

I think we underestimate how much God honors these small, unseen acts of faith.

The moments when we whisper, “I don’t know where this leads, but I’ll follow You anyway.”

Trusting Without Knowing

I don’t know what comes next.

And maybe that’s the point.

Maybe faith was never meant to be about knowing—it was meant to be about trusting the One who does.

So I’m choosing to place what’s ahead into His hands. To release my grip on outcomes and timelines. To believe that even if the road winds through uncertainty, it is still guided by love.

I’m choosing to trust Him with whatever comes next.

If You’re Here Too

If you’re reading this and you feel that same gentle tug…

If you’re sensing a quiet invitation but don’t yet understand it….

If you’re standing in the in-between, wondering if you’re doing faith “right”….

You’re not alone.

God often works softly, especially with tender hearts. And sometimes the most meaningful beginnings don’t arrive with fireworks, but with a whisper that simply asks us to pay attention.

May we have the patience

to listen.

May we have the courage to respond.

And may we trust that even gentle beginnings can lead to beautiful places.
